Natural Wool Insulation

You have probably heard of the phrase ‘farm to table’, but what about ‘farm to walls’? Meet Havelock Wool. Their natural wool insulation comes from sheep farms in New Zealand rather than from fossil fuels. Based on trade that helps sequester over half-a-million tons of carbon from our atmosphere, their raw material is both sustainable and renewable, recyclable and compostable. Havelock Wool’s product line includes loose fill, batt and smart wall insulation, all made with non-toxic wool that outperforms fiberglass, cellulose, cotton, mineral wool and foam. Their wool isn’t only good for the environment, it’s also good for your family’s health: serving as a source of air filtration, sound absorption and moisture management.

The Complete Package

Breathe Easy: Air Quality

Havelock Wool functions as an air filter which irreversibly traps nitrogen oxides, sulfur dioxide and formaldehyde. When being installed, by blow-in or in batts, there is no need for protective clothing, as it is completely safe. It does not off-gas, and in fact absorbs VOCs and is hypo-allergenic. It can also control moisture by absorbing and releasing it from ambient air, stabilizing heat changes, preventing mold growth and minimizing condensation.

Feel the calm: Noise mitigation

Wool fibers capture sound energy and safely convert it to heat. Havelock insulation simultaneously reduces air-borne sound, sound transmission and surface noise, maintaining a minimum 90% noise reduction coefficient.

Don’t Worry: Resilience

Wool is naturally fire resistant without the need to add harmful chemicals into your home. It will not support a flame below 1100F and is self-extinguishing. Wool insulation retains its high insulation performance R-value, even when wet.  The natural keratin in the fiber prevents the spread of mold and mildew.

Protect the Earth: Sustainability

Wool covers all the bases during and after the construction process. Cruelty free wool harvesting means that you can be assured that this sustainable and renewable resource is an ethical choice which doesn’t add to landfills by being compostable and biodegradable.

Nothing to Hide: Transparency

Havelock has pursued Declare and HPDC certifications to let you know exactly what you are getting.
