ECO-FRIENDLY HARDWOOD FLOORING

As with master craftspeople, artists, architects and designers through ages, Lauzon has been passionate about revealing the beauty of wood. It is easy to understand why. Every species of tree has its own character. Within species, every individual has distinctive patterned grains that, when treated with art and science, impart remarkable natural beauty to any décor.

HEALTHY FLOORING CERTIFIED

The Lauzon team believes in creating beautiful, high-quality hardwood floors that support a healthy home environment. All of their flooring, including engineered floors, are safe and sustainable and are manufactured without solvents, volatile organic compound (VOC) or formaldehyde. The floors meet the strictest health standards as certified by credible third-party organizations, and are ideal for those who suffer from respiratory problems, allergies, asthma or other diseases attacking the immune system.

In fact, all Lauzon hardwood floors are fully compliant with CARB phase 2 – the strictest norm in the industry establish by the Air Resources Board – California Environmental Protection Agency. Lauzon floorings have all been tested according to the ASTM D6007-14 standards by HPVA Laboratories, for formaldehyde emission, and the results indicate an emission level so low it is barely within the detection limit.

What is FSC?

The Forest Stewardship Council® is an international certification system for forests and forest products that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. FSC® is supported by WWF CanadaGreenpeaceRainforest Alliance, the David Suzuki Foundation, among others. It has also been recognized by the North American and global marketplace as the most credible and effective forest certification system.

Responsible Sourcing

When you choose a Lauzon floor you can take comfort in knowing that their policies are designed to protect the forest for generations to come. Whether Canadian or imported, Lauzon only chooses wood sourced from sustainably managed forests.

In addition, Lauzon sourcing is fully compliant with the US Lacey Act to ensure legal sources of timber.

Resource Optimization

Lauzon’s state of the art hardwood sawmill – the largest in Canada – allows them to precisely calibrate production with demand for high yield use of every block of wood. When compared with industry standards, Lauzon’s environmentally responsible production allows them to produce more planks from the same amount of wood, thus protecting the planet.

This translates into an 80% yield of logs harvested (compared to the industry standard closer to 45%). This is significant when you consider that Lauzon represent 14% of all of Canada’s hardwood production and they do it responsibly.

Recycle & Reuse

To minimize their environmental footprint, Lauzon has implemented a Zero Waste policy as a key component of their production. The primary energy source for their dryers and for heating their factories comes from our their own shavings and sawdust. What they don’t use, they transform into carbon neutral pellets for wood burning stoves.

Lauzon’s in-depth understanding of climate conditions allows them to dry wood naturally with wind and the right temperatures. Reducing the time wood spends in kilns decreases both their energy consumption and their CO2 emissions.

From Forest to Floor

Through their fully integrated operation, Lauzon has built a business that is at the forefront of sustainable forest management and stewardship. Full integration begins with the forest lots that Lauzon manages in Outaouais (Quebec) and continues in their sawmill and in their hardwood flooring finishing plants.

Pure Genius Air-Improving Floors

All Lauzon floors are manufactured without solvents, volatile organic compounds or formaldehyde and meet the strictest standards for toxic emissions. Floors with Titanium finish go even further in striving for purity through Lauzon’s exclusive advanced technology: Pure Genius. Pure Genius is a light-activated, air-purifying agent made of titanium dioxide, which is integrated into Lauzon’s Titanium floor finish.

A built-in feature of Lauzon’s new Émira HickoryAuthentik Red Oak and Organik FSC®– certified Hard Maple flooring series, it is also offered as an option on most Lauzon Designer and Ambiance Collections products.
